The One Detroit Center is among the largest office buildings in downtown Detroit, at 45 floors and about one-million square feet. The building is being put on the market after the Detroit Police and Fire Retirement System opted not to buy it. According to Crain’s Detroit Business, the owner of One Detroit Center offered to sell the building to the pension organization—since it owns a portion of the building already—for $100-million. The retirement group passed on the offer last month. If a buyer purchases the property, it would be the second most expensive piece of real estate sold in the metro-Detroit area this year. The One Detroit Center is the third largest office building in the city, behind Compuware’s headquarters and the Penobscot Building. Construction of the landmark was completed in 1992.
