The Royal Oak Commission for the Arts wants to add permanent creative pieces to a stretch of 11 Mile Road. Royal Oak city officials have $40,000 to give to interested artists. Assistant to the City Manager Stewart Meeks says the city is open to any ideas.

“We’re looking for all interesting, kind of creative, ideas we can get. We purposefully wrote the call for artists to be as broad as possible so that we could end up with a series of interesting works by one artist or potentially multiple artists.”

Meeks says the art will fill a one-mile long stretch of 11 Mile west of I-75. He says installation proposals are due by mid-February.

Artists can apply here.
