Road Construction Progressing On Windsor Side Of NITC

Friday, October 3, 2014

While many residents in Southwest Detroit are waiting for the first visible steps in the building of the New International Trade Crossing to Canada, Windsorites have been watching related construction projects for months.

The Canadian government is spending more than a billion dollars on road projects, including a below-grade extension of Highway 401 to take commercial truck traffic off of local surface roads. The project -- called the Right Honorable Herb Gray Parkway -- runs right up to the planned site of the new bridge.

Cindy Prince is the Communications Manager for the Parkway Infrastructure Constructors. She spoke with WDET’s Jerome Vaughn at one of the project’s construction sites.
