"We anticipate the city having a positive fund balance as of June 30th, 2014."

Joyce Parker, Allen Park's emergency manager.

Governor Rick Snyder declared Wednesday that the financial emergency in Allen Park has been resolved. The governor says the transition back to local control can now begin under the guidance of an advisory board. Snyder appointed Joyce Parker as Allen Park's emergency manager in 2012, after a proposed movie studio project fell through, leaving the city with millions of dollars in debt. Last month, the property sold for $12-million. Parker tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller the city worked with a broker to look for potential buyers. On September 23, the state approved a $2.6 million dollar emergency loan for Allen Park to help the city pay pension obligations and other debts.
