Taking Stock Of Chrysler's IPO

September 25, 2013

"Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne would rather not have an IPO. He'd rather just have Fiat do a complete takeover as soon as possible."

Paul Eisenstein, publisher of The Detroit Bureau.

Chrysler is preparing to return to the stock market for the first time in 15 years. It hasn’t traded shares publicly since its merger with Daimler in 1998. The automaker filed papers with the federal government this week to make an initial public offering of stock. Paul Eisenstein is the publisher of The Detroit Bureau and its web site. WDET's Pat Batcheller asked him to explain how the IPO would work. Click on the audio link above to hear the conversation.
