With Allies Like This, Communities Benefit

August 2, 2013

"One day a week, 10 hours a day...for 10 months...helping them to develop as leaders that will stay in the community."

Ismael Ahmed, UM-Dearborn Associate Provost of Metropolitan Impact

It takes dedication to work full-time for a non-profit…but it also takes good leadership. There’s a group called Public Allies, which trains young adults for leadership positions in community organizations. And it’s coming to the University of Michigan-Dearborn, thanks to a $365,000 dollar grant. Ismael Ahmed helped bring Public Allies to the school, where he’s the Associate Provost of Metropolitan Impact. He spoke with WDET's Pat Batcheller.
