Meet The Wayne County Executive Candidates-Phil Cavanagh

July 28, 2014

"My first order of business when I get elected is to tell the governor and my colleagues in the House and in the Senate that Wayne County has new leadership, and we can handle this, and to stay out of our affairs."

State Rep. Phil Cavanagh, candidate for Wayne County Executive.

Wayne County Executive Bob Ficano faces ten challengers in the August 5th election. Whoever wins the Democratic primary is expected to have no trouble beating the Republican challenger in November. State Representative Phil Cavanagh is one of the leading contenders running against Ficano. He’s the son of former Detroit Mayor Jerome Cavanagh and is a former Wayne County Commissioner. Cavanagh tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller he’d put as much information about county government on the Internet as possible, starting with the people he would appoint.
