Seven veteran members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra are retiring this year.

Between them they share more than 250 years of experience in the company.

Don Baker, who is the group’s Principal Oboe, joined the DSO 41 years ago. He plays his final concert at Orchestra Hall on Sunday.

He tells WDET’s David Cassleman that playing for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra was too big of an opportunity to pass up.
