"It starts with residents knowing they don't have to take it (dumping)."

Stephanie Young, Detroit Department of Neighborhoods, on the Motor City Makeover.

It’s time for the Motor City Makeover, Detroit’s annual city-wide spring cleaning campaign. Thousands of volunteers will pick up trash and do other things to spruce up the city over the next three weekends. This year, the makeover starts May 3 in Council Districts One and Two. Stephanie Young is the District One Manager for the city’s Department of Neighborhoods. She tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller that the makeover will help residents remember which district they live in.
