Ford Motor Company has named Mark Fields as its new President and CEO.

Fields joined Ford back in 1989 and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer. He’ll replace President and CEO Alan Mullaly, who’s retiring after an 8 year stint as head of the Dearborn automaker.

Fields says he has his priorities set.

“The first order of business obviously, is to have a great transition over the next couple of months. But then, again, continue to stay relentlessly focused on implementing our One Ford plan and bring even more great products and innovations with top quality to the marketplace.”

Fields says he’s committed to maintaining the path set out by Mulally. He says he has no plans for management changes.

Fields officially becomes President and CEO on July 1.
