Michigan will lose a lot of experience in Congress next year with the retirements of several lawmakers. Among them is John Dingell, who has served in the House longer than anyone in history. Republican colleagues Mike Rogers and Dave Camp aren’t running for re-election. Neither is Senator Carl Levin. All of them chair some of the most powerful committees on Capitol Hill. But politics, like nature, abhors a vacuum, and plenty of people have come forward to run for those soon-to-be vacant seats.
