GM Safety Chief: I Would Drive One Of Our Recalled Vehicles

March 31, 2014

"Everything we're doing right now is guided by one unwavering principle, which is (to) do what is right for our customer."

Jeff Boyer, GM Vice President of Global Vehicle Safety.

This week, General Motors faces what may be its biggest challenge since coming out of bankruptcy. CEO Mary Barra is expected to go before Congress Tuesday to answer questions about the automaker’s slow response to faulty ignition switches in some of its vehicles. 12 deaths have been blamed on the problem, which GM knew about more than a decade ago, but only recently recalled more than two million affected vehicles. Barra named Jeff Boyer as GM’s new vice president for global vehicle safety. Boyer tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller the automaker wants to get to the bottom of what happened.
