Consumers Energy Prepares for Winter Storm Weather

Thursday, February 20, 2014

Consumers Energy will have all staff on standby tonight in preparation for severe winter weather.

Snow, rain and high winds are expected tonight and tomorrow. Officials say state contractors are also ready to assist in the event of major power outages.

Deborah Dodd is a spokesperson for Consumers Energy.

“We want to make repairs as quickly as possible when we do have outages, but safety is one of our top concerns -- not only for our employees who have to work out in some very inclement weather conditions, but also for our customers," she said. "We want to make sure they’re aware of some important safety tips before a storm and what to do after a storm hits.”

Dodd says all of Consumers Energy’s call centers are fully staffed, and many of their service centers will be open tonight.
