President Obama signed legislation last week to provide more resources to veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. About 15% of returning veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are women. But studies for PTSD treatment have largely focused on men. Doctor Deane Aikins is an associate professor at Wayne State University. He's part of a group looking to treat the disorder in women. He tells WDET’s J. Carlisle Larsen about the study and where researchers are finding hope for successful treatment of PTSD.

The study is still looking for participants. If you are a woman age 18-45 and interested in participating in a clinical trial for Propranolol in the treatment of traumatic stress please contact Dr. Deane Aikins, email: deaikins@med.wayne.edu or 203-641-4421.
