Snyder Hopes Campaign Goes Swimmingly

February 3, 2014

"We're all talking about his last Super Bowl ad again, which was a huge success, and put him on the map. So, I think that's a very clever move by the governor."

Susan Demas of Inside Michigan Politics.

Governor Rick Snyder begins his re-election campaign at an appearance in Detroit Monday morning. Voters watching the Super Bowl Sunday may have seen his new campaign ad between the third and fourth quarters. It starts with the governor underwater, rising from a pool, and goes on to list a series of accomplishments during his first term. Snyder’s political career began with an ad during the big game four years ago, introducing himself to voters as a nerd--a theme he re-introduced Sunday. WDET's Pat Batcheller asked Susan Demas of Inside Michigan Politics how starting the campaign now will help the governor in November. Click on the audio link above to hear the conversation.
