Saturday, January 31, 2015

The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING for heavy snow from 1 a.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday. The previously issued Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

Metro Detroit can expect moderate to occasionally heavy snow beginning late Saturday night and lasting through early Monday morning.

Accumulation of 6 inches or more are expected for Sunday afternoon and evening, with a total accumulation of 8 inches or more south of M-59.

Localized blowing and drifting snow will cause reduced visibility and make for hazardous travel conditions.

Wind chills will fall to about 10 below zero and possibly 20 below zero by sunrise Monday.

A WINTER STORM WARNING means significant amounts of snow are expected.
