Secretary Of State Seeks Shorter Lines For Customers

January 28, 2014

"It's like taking a number remotely."

Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson.

Michigan’s Secretary of State offers many services on-line, allowing you to apply for license plate tabs, for example, without having to leave your house. But for those things that require a visit to a branch office, such as renewing your driver’s license, it can take an hour or more--much of that time waiting. Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is trying something new so you don’t have to wait as long. It’s called MI-TIME Line. Johnson tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller it uses smart technology to improve customer service. Click on the audio link above to hear the conversation.
